Artist History
Kano Eisen'in (1730-1790) was a painter of the Kano school from the mid to late Edo period. He was the sixth head of the Kobikicho Kano family. His father was Kano Furunobu. The seventh head, Yosen'in, was his eldest son. He was favored by the 10th Tokugawa Shogun, Ieharu, and served him as a hōgen (master of arts) and later as an "inner painter(oku-eshi)".
