Artist History
Kishi Renzan (1804-1859) was a painter of the Kishi school in the late Edo period. He was born in Kyoto. He studied under Ganku and became his adopted son-in-law, succeeding the third generation of the Kishi school. Together with Nakajima Raisho, Yokoyama Seiki, and Shiokawa Bunrin, he was known as one of the "Four Great Families of the Heian Period" in the art world at the end of the Edo period.
