Artist History
Kawabata Gyokusho (1842-1913) was a Japanese painter from the Meiji to Taisho periods. He became a professor at the Tokyo Fine Arts School (now Tokyo University of the Arts) and taught painting methods of the Maruyama school painting. He later founded the Kawabata Art School(Kawabata Ga Gakkō).
