Artist History
Sakakibara Shiho (1887-1971) was a Japanese painter. He was born in Kyoto. He was the second son of the Japanese painter Sakakibara Roko. He was influenced by Takeuchi Seiho and other leading figures in the Kyoto art world. After repeatedly exhibiting his work at Ministry of Education Art Exhibition, he participated in the formation of the Association to Create a National Painting Style with Tsuchida Bakusen and others. After the association was dissolved, he continued to create without belonging to any particular art world, and painted flower-and-bird paintings throughout his life.
