Artist History
Yokoyama Seiki (1793-1865) was a painter of the Shijo school in the late Edo period. He was born in Kyoto. He first studied under Goshun and then Matsumura Keibun, and was praised as one of the "Four Great Masters of the Heian Period" in the late Edo period art world, along with Nakajima Raisho, Kishi Renzan, and Shiokawa Bunrin. He was skilled in painting flowers and birds, landscapes, and people.
