Artist History
Maeda Seison (1885-1977) was a Japanese painter from the Meiji to Showa periods. He was born in Gifu Prefecture and studied under Kajita Hanko. He was a central artist in the revived Inten Exhibition. He is a professor emeritus at Tokyo University of the Arts, a Person of Cultural Merit, and a recipient of the Order of Culture.
