Artist History
Kato Eishu (1873-1939) was a Japanese painter. He was born in Aichi Prefecture. He first studied under Okumura Sekiran in Nagoya. After entering the Kyoto Prefectural School of Art in 1890, he studied under Kono Bairei, Kishi Chikudo, and Takeuchi Seiho. He also studied Japanese and Chinese customs under Tomioka Tessai. He was active in the Bunten and Teiten exhibitions, and excelled in flowers, birds, and animals.
