Artist History
A painter of the Nanpin school in the mid to late Edo period. He was born in Edo. His surname was Kusumoto, and his given name was Hakukei. His style name was Kinsaku, and he also used the pseudonym Taikei. He was the son of the painter Song Shiseki, from whom he learned his craft, excelling in flower, bird, and landscape paintings. He passed away in Bunka 2 (1805) at the age of 73.
