Artist History
Okamoto Shuki was a Japanese painter from the late Edo period. He studied under Onishi Keisai and Watanabe Kazan. He was good at realistic paintings of flowers and birds. His paintings of peacocks in particular were highly praised and were called "Shuki's Peacocks". He is known as one of the four great painters of the late Edo period. He passed away in 1862 at the age of 56.
