Artist History
【Yamaguchi Soken】
Yamaguchi Soken (1759-1818) was a Maruyama School painter from the mid to late Edo period. He was born in Kyoto and was one of the Ten Great Masters of the Omon School. He excelled in painting elegant Japanese beauties and was praised alongside Komai Genki. He worked to popularize the Maruyama School style of painting, and painted many genre paintings. He also excelled in Flower-and-bird Paintings.
【Kagawa Kageki】
Kagawa Kageki (1768-1843) was a poet of the late Edo period. He was the second son of Arai Kosanji, a feudal lord of the Tottori domain. He studied under his foster father Kagawa Kagemoto and Ozawa Roan. He later left his foster home and founded the Keien school. He had over 1,000 disciples.
