Artist History
Hirowatari Ganpi/Koshu (1766-1820) was a painter from the late Edo period. After succeeding the Hirowatari family which was the "Karae-Mekiki"-the official connoisseur of Nagasaki-, he formed a friendship with Kashiwagi Jotei in Kyoto. He lived in Edo and produced Nanpin style flower-and-bird paintings and literati style paintings.
