Artist History
Kano Seisen’in (1796-1846) was a painter of the Kano school in the late Edo period. Born in Edo. Eldest son of Kano Isen’in Eishin. Ninth generation of the Kano school in Kobikicho. He was the ninth generation of the Kano school in Kobikicho and a painter in the inner court of the Edo shogunate. He learned painting techniques from his father and studied classical Yamato-e by copying old picture scrolls. His son is Kano Masanobu. His pupils include Kano Hogai and Hashimoto Gahou.
