【Jikihara Gyokusei】 (1904-2005)
Japanese painter, Zen monk, and haiku poet from the Showa to Heisei periods. Born in Akaiwa-gun, Okayama Prefecture. Studied Nanga painting under Yano Kyoson at the Osaka Art School. He also studied Zen under Shibayama Zenkei and haiku under Takahama Kyoshi. He served as president and chairman of the Japan Nanga Academy.
【Yamaguchi Seishi】(1901-1994)
Haiku poet. Born in Kyoto. Graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo. Studied under Takahama Kyoshi and Mizuhara Shuoshi. Became a member of the "Ashibi" and "Hototogisu" groups, and together with Shuoshi, Awano Seiho, and Takano Suju, built the golden age of "Hototogisu" in the early Showa period. Received the Japan Art Academy Award. Person of Cultural Merit.
