Artist History
Tetsuo Somon (1791-1872) was a Rinzai sect monk and Southern painter from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period. He learned literati painting from Ishizaki Yushi and Ko Kaho, and is considered one of the three great masters of Nagasaki Southern painting along with Kinoshita Itsuun and Miura Gomon.
