Artist History
Matsudaira Fumai (1751-1818) was a Japanese feudal lord in the mid-Edo period. The seventh feudal lord of the Matsue domain. He reorganized the Matsue domain, which was under financial stress, through administrative reform. Also, he displayed his talent as a tea master and perfected the "Fumai-ryu" of tea ceremony.
