Artist History
Ukita Ikkei (1795-1859) was a painter from the late Edo period. Born in Kyoto. He learned painting from Tosa Mitsuzane and Tanaka Totsugen, and worked to revive Yamato-e painting. He was also well versed in waka poetry and calligraphy.
