Artist History
Ishizaki Koyo (1884-1947) was a Japanese painter from the Taisho to early Showa periods. He was born in Fukumitsu, Toyama Prefecture. He first studied under the Rinpa painter Yamamoto Koichi in Kanazawa, and later moved to Kyoto to study under Takeuchi Seiho. He excelled in vivid and decorative flower and bird paintings based on realism, and was active mainly in the Bunten and Teiten exhibitions. He traveled around India and the Himalayas, and also traveled to Europe.
