The painter Hanabusa Itcho (1652-1724) originally trained in the Kano style, under Kano Yasunobu, but soon abandoned the school and his master to form his own style. He was also known as a Haiku poet who studied under the master Matsuo Basho.
【Ko Sukoku】
Ko Sukoku (1730-1804) was a town painter in the late Edo period. He was born in Edo. He studied under Sawaki Suushi, a disciple of Hanabusa Itcho, and excelled in genre paintings in the style of Itcho. He also excelled in warrior paintings.
